Why study with Andrea?

Not all voice teachers are the same; each has their own teaching style and level of training and experience.  In your search for the right teacher, some of the factors that should influence your decision are education, experience, proven results, personality, commitment, and professionalism.  Don’t just focus on price or location; these factors may not lead you to the best teacher for you.

MA in music history with performance emphasis, magna cum laude, UNH

BA in vocal performance, magna cum laude, UNH

Ongoing professional performing

When your teacher is also a performer, you get to learn by watching him/her in action.  You can see by attending her performances whether the technique she is teaching you actually works.  An active performer has to practically apply healthy singing habits.  Andrea performs as a soloist  with community choruses, orchestras, and as a church musician, singing in a variety of styles from early music to Americana.

Commitment

Andrea is a full-time musician; her only jobs are to teach music and sing.  This allows her to remain focused on being the best artist and teacher that she can be.

Professional development

NATS Intern Program participant

NATS conferences and workshops

Continued education through UNH coursework in speech/language pathology

Andrea is a patient, creative, and caring teacher. She always makes the lessons fun and is always trying to get me to think in new ways regarding vocal technique. Andrea’s passion for singing is evident and it inspires me to be the best singer that I can be.

-Gina, high school senior

Andrea is an amazing teacher, you can tell she enjoys what she does and she passes that on to her students.  She doesn’t just teach a child to sing, she teaches everything they need to be successful- from the notes and  rhythm to the way to hold the body, neck and head- to produce clear tones with ease.

She is a wonderful teacher and a beautiful individual who will give your child the knowledge, tools, and techniques to help them succeed in their musical path.

-Tony and Joanne, parents

Thanks to Andrea, I always feel prepared for competitions, All-State auditions, or other musical experiences.  I have been blessed to have studied with her.

-Danielle, high school senior

Andrea always makes voice lessons extremely fun, and I look forward to them every week!

-Elissa, high school sophomore

Andrea is not only gifted as a superb vocalist with a pure and angelic voice, but is also blessed with the rare gift of being an extremely talented teacher.   She is always gentle, kind and sweet in the way she teaches and speaks with her students.  I am thrilled that my daughter is included in Andrea’s studio.  My daughter has grown tremendously as a vocalist under Andrea’s tutelage.

What people are saying:

Mission statement:

To foster compassionate, highly-skilled, lifelong artists who find happiness and solace in music, regardless of their chosen occupation.

Andrea accomplishes this mission by developing the following skills in her students: empathy, kinesthetic awareness, stage presence, musicianship, and work ethic.

What's different about the Voice Studio:

The Voice Studio is a complete course of study.  When you enroll in weekly lessons, you gain access to group master classes (included in tuition) held periodically throughout the semester.  In master classes, students perform for each other, receive feedback from Andrea and the other students, and work on new technique.  At the annual Vocal Academy week, students attend as many group classes on special topics as they want (topics include belting, musical theater and classical repertoire, vocal anatomy, and more).  The course of study also includes access to auditions like the Granite State NATS Student Auditions (open to all ages).  These auditions are a chance for students to show what they've learned in a performance setting and receive feedback from other voice professionals.

We give back  to our community.  At our annual Music for Giving Recital, ticket sales benefit local charities.  To date, the Studio has donated over $10,000 to charities like Gerry's Food Pantry and the Cocheco Valley Humane Society.

We sing in all styles of music, making the full range of sounds available to the human voice.  Students explore how to make classical, musical theater, folk, and pop/rock sounds.  Andrea is a classicaly-trained singer who has educated herself in the specialized vocal technique required to sing in an array of styles, enabling her to teach her students how to be versatile in today's demanding musical world.

We learn about life, not just music.  Weekly quotes from the greatest human thinkers fill the studio space and students write their responses on sticky notes to share with the rest of the studio.
